Heritage Features Flynn Notes at CSNS
By Numismatic News

An Original Series $50 National Gold Bank Note from the diverse Tom Flynn collection is a top highlight of Heritage-Currency Auctions of America's April 16-18 sale at the Central States Numismatic Society convention in Rosemont, Ill.

Flynn acquired the note directly from Amon Carter at the 1973 American Numismatic Association convention, according to sale catalogers, who graded the note very fine and said it is the finest known Original Series $50 NGBN from the First National Gold Bank of San Francisco, Calif. They estimate it to sell for around $300,000-$500,000.

Also to be offered in the auction will be Canadian notes, Colonial Currency, Fractional Currency, Military Payment Certificates, obsolete notes, National Bank Notes, small-size notes and large-size type notes. More than 169 individuals have consigned lots. This Heritage sale is the official currency auction of the Central States Numismatic Society convention, and will take place Wednesday through Friday, April 16-18, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill.

Encased Postage features items from the Frederick R. Mayer collection, including merchants such as Ayer's, Buhl, Cook, Irving House, Hunt & Nash, Gault and Mendum.

Colonials and Confederate Currency will be offered while a selection of obsolete notes features a $50 Idaho Territory note issued by B.M. DuRell & Co.

An online 1,200-lot Final Session will close April 21 on www.HA.com.
